Iona College Art Before Noon Series Presents Harvie S and Eye Contact in a
Free Latin-Jazz Concert Feb. 13

New Rochelle, NY, January 29, 2003 - The Art Before Noon Series will present jazz artists Harvie S and Eye Contact in a Latin-jazz concert at 11 am on Feb. 13 in the Joyce Auditorium on the Iona College campus, 715 North Ave. Admission is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on the College campus. Call 633-2629 for more information.

The performance will feature original compositions that embody "a gale of Afro-Cuban percussive spirits, an unconventional blend of instrumental voices and contemporary jazz influences in a particularly pleasurable blend," according to Jazziz Magazine. The quintet includes Harvie S on bass, Daniel Kelly on piano, Scott Robert Avidon on saxophone, Adam Weber on drums and Renato Thoms on percussion. A brief discussion with Harvie S on the intercultural ideas and influences that inspire the music will occur immediately after the concert.

Funding from Meet The Composer, Inc. is provided with the support of the New York State Council on the Arts, ASCAP, the Virgil Thomson Foundation, the Eleanor Naylor Dana Charitable Trust and the National Endowment for the Arts. The event is sponsored by the Iona College Fine and Performing Arts Department and the Iona Council for the Arts. All Iona College Council on the Arts programs are sponsored through the generosity of JoAnn and Joseph Murphy and the Baron Lambert Fund.

Celebrating 25 years of peace and justice education, Iona College is a private, co-educational institution of learning in the tradition of American Catholic higher education founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers.
