Stepping Stones and Stumbling Blocks: Key Moments
in Jewish-Catholic Dialogue at Iona College April 2
New Rochelle, NY, March 12, 2003 - Iona College and the American
Jewish Committee of Westchester will present Stepping Stones and Stumbling
Blocks: Key Moments in Jewish-Catholic Dialogue at 7:30 pm in Spellman
Hall on Iona's main campus, located at 715 North Ave. in New Rochelle.
Mark Weitzman, director of the Task Force Against Hate at the NY Tolerance
Center of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and Audrey Doetzel, NDS, of the
Jewish Christian Relation Encounter, will analyze people, events, and
documents in the history of Jewish-Catholic dialogue.
Weitzman is involved in the fields of extremism and cyberhate and has
been invited by the European Commission, European Union, and the US Embassy
in Berlin to work with political, academic, law enforcement, and media
leaders on these issues. He has also appeared on numerous radio and television
programs as an expert on the Holocaust and antisemitism.
This event is part of Iona's Driscoll Professorship in Jewish-Catholic
Studies' Shared Roots Series programs, which provide participants the
opportunity to study ancient and contemporary facets of the relationship
between Judaism and Christianity. For more information on these programs,
