Former Senator Bill Bradley Discusses America's Future at Iona

New Rochelle, NY - Bill Bradley, former US Senator from New Jersey presented "America: the Path Ahead" on Feb. 12 at the Third Annual Presidential Leadership Series. Speaking to a crowd of over 200, Bradley's discussion ranged in topic from the economy, education, and globalization to anecdotes form his days as a basketball star.

Emphasizing that we live in a "globalized, interdependent world," Bradley, stated "we will all advance together, or each of us will diminish." He also explained that the combination of globalization and technology can provide the broadest diffusion of democracy and raise the standard of living for the most amount of people.

On the topic of education, he said the system must be made accountable and it is unacceptable for any school in America to deny its students an excellent education, even urban schools. Bradely urged the audience "if you are troubled with democracy, you do not have to be a politician. Make your community a better place; be a better citizen."
