Iona to Celebrate Reunion Weekend June 11 - 13

Robert Greifeld '79, President and CEO of NASDAQ, to be One of Five Alumni Awardees at Gala Reception June 12

New Rochelle, NY - Iona College will host its annual Reunion Weekend June 11 - 13 on the main campus, located at 715 North Ave. Alumni from the classes of '49, '54, '59, '64, '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, and '99 will return to Iona for the activities planned by the College's Office of Alumni Relations. The highlight of the weekend will be the annual Alumni Gala at 7 pm on Saturday, June 12, where several Iona alumni will receive awards for outstanding contributions to the College.

Robert Greifeld, president and chief executive officer of The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (NASDAQ), will receive the Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award for Outstanding Achievement at the Gala. A 1979 Iona graduate, Greifeld also earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 1986. "Iona gave me an opportunity to get a college education. I grew to be an adult there. I met my wife Julia, and made lifelong friendships. It's a great source of satisfaction and pride to Julia and me to see how far the institution has come over the last 10 years," he said. He was also named chairman of the USA Track and Field Foundation earlier this year.

John Nallen '79, executive vice president of Finance at News Corporation, will also receive the Loftus Award. Robert V. Napier '76, former senior vice president of Global Business Solutions, Compaq will be recognized posthumously with a Loftus Award as well.

Kathleen Fanese '84, a senior account executive at St. John Associates Inc., will receive the Brother Patrick B. Doyle Award for distinguished Service to the Iona Alumni Association. The Brother John G. Driscoll Award for Heroic Humanitarian Service will be given to Valentine Taubner '65, CEO of Ball Chain Manufacturing, Inc., a company his father founded in 1938.
