Incoming Iona Freshmen Participate in Community
Service Immersion Weekend at Numerous Westchester Organizations
New Rochelle, NY - Iona's Center for Campus Ministries hosted 19 incoming
freshmen students for a community service immersion weekend from June
26 through June 28. The students were introduced to numerous volunteer
service opportunities including visiting patients at Blythedale Children's
Hospital, leading bingo games at the Wartburg Adult Services Center,
feeding the homeless with the Midnight Run, and building homes with Habitat
for Humanity. Six Iona upperclassmen led the student volunteers in discussions
and reflection sessions throughout the weekend. This was the third year
Iona has offered this experience to incoming students.
