Iona Receives Largest Endowment Gift in its History and
Establishes the
DeFeo Family Scholarship Fund
New Rochelle, NY - Iona announces the establishment of the DeFeo Family
Endowed Scholarship Fund, the largest endowment in Iona's history. Secured
in an initial gift of nearly $664,000 by Ronald M. De Feo, Iona Class of
1974, in memory of his brother Noah, Iona Class of 1967, this fund will
provide several deserving Iona undergraduate students with a significant
scholarship opportunity each year.
"This is a reflection of a successful Iona graduate who has chosen to
give something back to the College and aid students in pursuit of their dreams.
We are extremely grateful to Ron and his family," said Brother James
A. Liguori, CFC, president of Iona College.
DeFeo is the chairman and chief executive officer of Terex Corporation, a
multibillion-dollar global construction equipment manufacturer in Westport,
Connecticut. In making this historic donation, DeFeo said "I was blessed
to attend Iona on a scholarship in 1970 in memory of my deceased brother Noah
who, at the time of his fatal accident, was a recent Iona graduate. I have
waited 30 years to be in a position to establish an endowed fund and I am
thrilled to do so for my family and Iona. I look forward to helping many students
lighten the fiscal burden of a college education."
