Women's History Month 2005 at Iona: Women Aging in America
New Rochelle, NY - Iona College will host a series of events throughout
March in recognition of Women's History Month as part of its Speak-Up Partnership
with the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services,
and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services as the
County prepares for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
"Contributions of Older Women in History," a photo exhibit, will also be on display
in Ryan Library throughout the month.

Tuesday, March 1
Warren Rosenberg, PhD will present "The Biology of Aging: Issues for Women" at
2 pm in Spellman Hall.
Wednesday, March 2
Panel Discussion: "How Elder Abuse Affects Women as Caregivers and Victims"will
take place at 1 pm in the Faculty Reception Room, Spellman Hall. Panelists
include Joy Solomon and Susam Pollet from the Pace Women's Justice Center
and Daniel Reingold from the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale.
Thursday, March 3
12 pm Charles O'Donnell, PhD of the Finance Department will present "Women
and Social Security" in Ryan Library.
6:30 pm Women's History Month Keynote Address: Women Aging in America
will take place in Spellman Lounge. Irene Gutheil, DSW from the Fordham University
Ravazzin Center on Aging will present the keynote address for the month's
series of events.
Friday, March 4
"Bring Your Grandmother to School Day"
"The Rapping Grannies" from the Mount Vernon Intergenerational Choir will perform
at 11 am in the Ryan Library Auditorium.
Saturday, March 5
Tax Workshop: Iona College Accounting Students will host VITA (Volunteer Income
Tax Assistance)-Basic Tax Return Preparation, from 9 am - 12 pm in the
Hagan Hall Computer Lab. Contact J. Southworth at (914) 633-2062 for more information.
Monday, March 7
"Women in Communication" panel discussion will take place at 6:30 pm in the
Faculty Reception Room, Spellman Hall.
Tuesday, March 8
Tony Kelso, PhD of the Mass Communication Department will present "Hope I
Die Before I Get Old: Advertising and Representations of Aging" at 1 pm in
the Ryan Library Auditorium.
Thursday, March 10
A student conference will take place from 4-6 pm in The Isle at Iona,
located at 766 North Ave. The New Rochelle High School PAVE Jazz Combo will
accompany discussions regarding aging.
Saturday, March 12
