Hundreds of Iona Volunteers to Aid 15 Westchester County Programs on “Make a Difference Day” Oct. 15

New Rochelle, NY – Iona College will join more than 3 million volunteers nationwide on Saturday, Oct. 15 for the 15th Annual "Make a Difference Day," the largest national day of helping others. The event, sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its nearly 600 carrier newspapers, is expected to draw over 300 Iona students, faculty, staff, alumni and local residents, who will volunteer at 15 different sites throughout Westchester County.

The volunteer sites include Abraham House, Achilles Track Club, Children’s Village, Desda’s Grate, New Rochelle Parks and Recreation, Ursuline Outreach Center, YMCA, the New Rochelle Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, the Wartburg Senior Center and Green Chimneys. Organized by Iona’s Center for Campus Ministries, Make a Difference Day will begin at 9 am in Spellman Hall on the main campus, located at 715 North Ave. in New Rochelle. Volunteers will also participate in a breast cancer walk-a-thon on Sunday, October 16.
