Iona Hosts News Conference Launching North Avenue Streetscape
Project
New Rochelle, NY – New Rochelle Mayor Timothy Idoni (Class
of 1977), the City Council and Congresswoman Nita Lowey launched the North
Avenue Streetscape Project during a news conference in Memorial Park at
Iona on September 26. The Project is a three phase program the City planned
to improve the North Avenue corridor from Eastchester Road to Burling Lane.
The entire project, to which Iona College contributed $200,000, is scheduled
to be completed by December 2006.
Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College
is a private, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of
American Catholic higher education. Iona, currently listed in the US
News and World Report's annual " America's Best Colleges 2006" and
The Princeton Review's Best Northeastern Colleges 2006 edition,
offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, science, and business administration,
as well as master of arts, master of science and master of business administration
degrees and numerous post-graduate certificate programs.

Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland),
