Iona to Present the College’s First Legacy Awards
to DeFeo Brothers at 45th Annual Trustee Award Dinner Dance April 21
New Rochelle, NY – Iona will present the College’s
first Legacy Awards at the 45 th Annual Trustee Award Dinner Dance on Friday,
April 21 in memory of Noah DeFeo, Jr. ’67 to Ronald M. DeFeo ’74,
chairman and CEO, Terex Corporation, Philip D. DeFeo ’68, managing
partner, Lithos Capital Partners LLC and Neil P. DeFeo, chairman, president
and CEO, Playtex Products, Inc. The Legacy Awards will be presented
to the DeFeo brothers for their leadership in shaping the lives of Iona
College students.
In August 2004, Ron made Iona history by establishing
the College’s largest
endowed scholarship fund, the DeFeo Family Endowed Scholarship, in memory of

Ron, who lives with his family in Westport, CT was appointed president
and chief operating officer of Terex Corporation in 1993, chief executive
officer (CEO) in 1995 and chairman of the board in 1998. Prior to joining
the Company in 1992, he was a senior vice president of J.I. Case Company,
the former Tenneco farm and construction equipment division, and also served
as a managing director of Case Construction Equipment throughout Europe.
Ron began his career in brand management with Procter & Gamble and
was there for 10 years. He also serves as a director of Kennametal Inc.,
is on the executive committee of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers
and is an advisor to a private company, Skip Barber Racing. Mr. DeFeo
is also a member of the Legal Board of Trustees for Iona and a 1974 graduate
with a BA in economics and philosophy.
Philip, who lives with his family in New Canaan, CT, is the former chairman
and CEO of the Pacific Exchange (1999-2005) which merged with Archipelago
in 2005, creating the Archipelago Exchange. Prior to heading the Pacific
Exchange, he was CEO of Van Eck Global, a mutual funds company specializing
in alternative asset classes. Philip also held senior positions at Cedel
International, Lehman Brothers, was on the Operating Committee of Fidelity
Investments, and was a senior vice president at Bankers Trust. He is currently
managing partner and founder of Lithos Capital Partners LLC and is on the
boards of Computershare, Forward Asset Management, Archipelago, and The
Archipelago Exchange. A 1968 Iona graduate with a BA in economics, Philip’s
professional career began with Procter & Gamble, where he spent 10
years in manufacturing.
Neil, who lives with his family in Westport, CT, joined Playtex in October
2004 as president and CEO. Prior to joining Playtex, he was chairman, president
and CEO of Remington Products Company from 1997 through 2003. Neil
began his professional career with the Procter & Gamble Company, holding
positions of increasing responsibility over a 25-year period. He
then served as Group Vice President, U.S. Operations for the Clorox Company
from 1993 through 1996, where he was responsible for its U.S. business. Neil
received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan
College, where he now serves as a board member. He also serves on
the boards of several other companies and industry associations and is
active in many non-profit organizations, including United Way and March
of Dimes.
Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona
