New Rochelle , NY – Iona is ranked in the top tier of colleges and universities in the northern United States in the latest edition of the annual U.S. News & World Report America’s Best Colleges guide for the third year in a row. Ranked fortieth out of 165 northern institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate and master’s level programs, Iona has moved up four spots from last year to achieve its best U.S. News ranking. Among the factors that make Iona a top tier institution are its student/faculty ratio (15/1) and the percentage of freshman in the top 25% of their high school class (51%). Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College is a private, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of American Catholic higher education.
