IBM Executive to Present “Navigating the Corporate World” February 8

Robert MoffatJanuary 24, 2006 – New Rochelle, NY – Robert W. Moffat, Jr., Senior Vice President of Integrated Operations at IBM will visit Iona College’s Hagan School of Business as an “Executive for a Day” on Thursday, February 8. Moffat, a 1982 graduate of Iona’s MBA program, will present “Navigating the Corporate World” at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert V. LaPenta Student Union.

Since joining IBM in 1978, Moffat has held a number of executive positions, including General Manager for worldwide sales, development, manufacturing and marketing of personal computers, printing systems and retail store solutions. Prior to that, he served as Vice President for the Enterprise Systems Group. He led the team that pioneered the Advanced Fulfillment Initiative, which was awarded the 1999 Franz Edelman Award, the highest recognition for achievement in operational research, management sciences and supply chain management.

Named Senior Vice President of Integrated Operations in July 2005, Moffat currently leads IBM’s worldwide supply chain, global delivery for strategic outsourcing and delivery operations for IBM’s Managed Business Process Services. His mission is to integrate these operations globally and use advanced technology and business designs to achieve greater levels of efficiency and improve IBM’s market responsiveness.

Moffat said that the opportunity to speak to current business students at Iona is timely given the reality of globalization today. “Globalization is changing the fundamental model for how businesses shape strategy, management and operations in a truly global way. In this model, the only way to differentiate oneself is to have better skills, to come up with a more innovative solution and apply it more effectively. And it’s critically important that the leaders of the future understand this and the enterprises they will lead in the years ahead.”

The Hagan School of Business at Iona College is accredited by the AACSB – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – and is among the top 30 percent of business schools worldwide. The Princeton Review recently named the Hagan School among its Best 282 Business Schools 2007 edition.
