Iona Alumnus Presents “Extraordinary” Story
![]() February 28, 2006 – New Rochelle, NY – Raymond V. Sozzi, executive-in-residence at Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital company, will visit Iona College’s Hagan School of Business as an “Executive for a Day” on Thursday, March 1. Sozzi, a 1965 graduate of Iona, will present “From Ordinary to Extraordinary: An Iona Story” at noon in Spellman Hall. At Summit Partners, Sozzi serves as change agent, mentor and virtual CEO to high-tech portfolio companies. He has 30 years experience as a general management executive in marketing, sales and service, research and development, manufacturing, finance and strategic planning. He has managed emerging high-technology companies and built early-stage companies with a customer-centric approach. Three of Sozzi’s accomplishments at Summit Partners include: the creation of WebSideStory, Sybari, and E-Commerce Exchange. WebSideStory helped initiate a repositioning strategy and replaced management to capitalize on the solution transition up the value chain from web analytics to marketing optimization. Sybari is a provider of anti-virus and content filtering solutions for the Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes groupware platforms. E-Commerce Exchange redefined the business model and assisted in a merger with iPayment. Before entering his current position, Ray was president, CEO and director of DataImage, Inc., a two-million dollar public software integrator of imaging systems, which he rescued from financial collapse. He then moved on to Datalogix Solutions International, Inc., a $50 million public software provider of client/server solutions for process manufacturing. As president and CEO there, Ray repositioned the company to implement a consolidation strategy. He later became president and director of Magic Solutions International, Inc., a $60 million software provider of client/server solutions for help desks applications. Over the course of a year, Ray doubled revenues to $60 million. Since 1999, he has been with Summit Partners. Ray received his BBA in Accounting from Iona and holds an MBA from Pace University. While at Iona, he was the president of the Accounting Club and the Legal Guild and a member of Tara Knights. He and his wife, Elaine, reside in Chappaqua, NY. They have three children: Raymond, Jr., Donna and Michael. (-30-) For questions or more information please contact:
