Hip-Hop Artist Lupe Fiasco to Perform at Iona College
New Rochelle, NY – April 10, 2007 – Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco will perform a spring concert at Iona College on April 27 at 8:00 p.m. in the Hynes Athletics Center. The Iona College Gaels Activities Board (GAB) is sponsoring the event, which will also feature guest artist Reina as the opening performance. Two thousand students are expected to attend. Fiasco’s performance is the first large-scale concert to be held at the College in almost five years. A devout Muslim, Fiasco has said, “What you put out into the world comes back to you. You actually change the world with what you do. I want to put some good into the world.” The opening performer, Reina, is a singer/songwriter and New York City native. Liz Olivieri-Lenahan, director of the Office of Student Development, said, “ Iona is thrilled to have such exciting artists perform here on campus.” Tickets are currently on sale for Iona College students. Ticket sales will open to the general public Tuesday, April 10. Advance tickets are available for purchase from the Iona College Office of Student Development and will cost $10 for Iona students with ID and $20 for the general public. Tickets sold at the door will be $20 with Iona student ID and $30 for general public. Call (914) 633-2360 for information. Along with GAB, the Council for Greek Governance (CGG), Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Commuter Student Association (CSA), Iona College Yearbook (ICANN), Iona College Television (ICTV), Iona College Radio (WICR), and the Office of Student Development (OSD) are co-sponsors of the concert. Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College is a private, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of American Catholic higher education.
