Grimes, Cavanagh Appointed to Senior Administrative Posts

New Rochelle, NY – April 25, 2007 – Iona College Provost Warren Rosenberg, Ph.D., today announced the appointments of Tresmaine Grimes, PhD, as assistant vice president for Academic Affairs and Kevin Cavanagh as assistant vice president for College Admissions. “The experience that Tresmaine and Kevin bring to their roles will greatly benefit the Iona community. Their contributions will strengthen our respected academic and admissions departments,” said Dr. Rosenberg.

Grimes has been a member of Iona’s psychology faculty since 2001. Her interests include the impact of ethnicity and culture on human development. She served four years as a member of the Test Development Committee for the Advanced Placement Examination in Psychology and is a member of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP), and the American Psychological Association.  She is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women. She holds a BA in Afro-American Studies and Psychology from Yale University, an MA in Psychology from The New School University, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Kevin Cavanagh has served in the Office of Admissions at Manhattan College for the past decade and has most recently held the position of director of Admissions and Financial Aid. He is a member of the Catholic College Admissions Association, the National Association of College Admissions Counseling and serves on the Executive Board of the New York State Association of College Admissions Counseling. He holds a BA in History and an MBA, both from Manhattan College. Kevin resides in New York City.
