Week of the Peacemaker November 15 - 20, 2009
Economic Nightmare or Wake up Call? Re-Imagining the American Dream

"[T]he most fundamental task is for our community of faith to understand and act on two fundamental ideas. The first is drawn from the Beatitudes: 'Blessed are the peacemakers, they will be called children of God.' The second is the familiar call of Pope Paul VI: 'If you want peace, work for justice.'"These two deceptively simple statements outline the key elements of our mission: To be Christian is to be a peacemaker and to pursue peace is to work for justice." The Harvest of Justice is Sown in Peace, US Catholic Bishops (1993)
