Iona College to Hold Christmas Celebration/Winter Auction December 10

New Rochelle, NY (December 2011) Iona College will hold a Christmas Celebration/Winter Auction at 6:00 pm, Saturday, December 10 at the Siwanoy Country Club, 351 Pondfield Road, Bronxville, NY.

Entitled "My Favorites Things," the event will include cocktails, dinner, music and silent and live auctions. Iona President Dr. Joseph E. Nyre and his wife, Kelli, will join in the festivities. This will be the seventh Winter Auction since the college started the initiative in 2004. As in prior auctions, all proceeds will be used to support student-centered programs and initiatives at Iona in their quest for higher education.

The program will also honor Mrs. Kathrene Houlihan and the Houlihan family for their continued generosity to Iona and its students. Her husband was the late Daniel J. Houlihan, Sr., who served as a trustee of Iona and at his passing in 1998 was trustee emeritus. He was a noted realtor who had served as partner of the real-estate firm of Houlihan-Parnes Realtors in Scarsdale. The Houlihan-family real estate firms date to 1891.

During his retirement, Mr. Houlihan devoted his time and energies to Catholic educational causes. In addition to Kathrene, the Houlihan family comprises nine children and 18 grandchildren.

The Siwanoy Country Club hosts are Iona alumni Julie Livolsi ('89 and '98 MS) and Bartley Livolsi ('70 and '75 MBA) and the event honorary chairman is John J. Verrier ('57, '09H).

Cost of the ticket is $150 per person. For more information, contact Jennifer Feely Artola ('04) at jfeely@iona.edu or (914) 637-7759.
