Iona College Celebrates Founders' Week
April 6 - 15 Set Aside in Honor of College's Founders
New Rochelle, New York March 31, 2000 - The College's mission of "justice,
peace and service," will echo throughout the campus from Thursday, April 6
through Saturday, April 15, 2000 in celebration of Blessed Edmund Rice and
the founders of Iona College.
Activities include a Hospitality Evening and Cookout on Thursday, April 6
and an Evening Liturgy at 7 pm in Arrigoni Center, with a focus on Blessed
Edmund Rice.
On Monday, April 10, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm, Dr. Elena Procario-Foley,
Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, will moderate a Catholic Identity
Dialogue entitled "Dimensions and Implications of Catholic Identity at Iona
College: Christian Brothers' Perspective." Panelists include Brother Kevin
Devlin, Brother James Carroll and Brother Terry Burke. Attendance is limited
to the first 50 responses. RSVP to Dr. Procario-Foley at 637-2744.
The annual Loftus Dinner, by invitation only, will take place on Wednesday,
April 12 at 6 pm in Arrigoni Center. The dinner honors Brother Terry Burke
and Brother Tony Reynolds, Loftus Scholars.
Concluding the week's activities are a faculty/staff/administration vs. student
softball game on Thursday, April 13 at noon at the campus football field and
the College's annual carnival that takes place from 12 noon to 4 pm in front
of Spellman Hall. Games, rides, food and music are the order of the day.
