Iona College Presents 18th Summer Theatre Season
New Rochelle, New York, June 20, 2000 - The Broadway musical "Once
On This Island," the first musical production in 16 years, opened Iona College's
18th Summer Theatre Festival on June 15. Additional performances will take
place July 7-8 and July 14-15, all at 8 pm with a 2 pm matinee on Sunday,
July 9.
With a musical score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who wrote the songs
for Broadway's recent "Ragtime," "Once On This Island" is a Caribbean folk
tale of romance, class struggle and redemption based on the book My Love,
My Love by Rose Guy.
Neil Simon's "Star-Spangled Girl" will be performed on Thursday, June 22 through
Sunday, June 25, Wednesday and Thursday, July 5-6 and Wednesday, July 26.
"Macbeth" can be seen on Wednesday and Thursday, July 12-13, Sunday, July
16, Friday and Saturday, July 21-22 and Thursday, July 27.
"The Heiress" by Ruth and Augustus Goetz, based on the Henry James novel will
be presented on Wednesday and Thursday, July 19-20, Sunday, July 23 and Friday
through Sunday, July 28-30.
All performances begin at 8 pm with the exception of the matinee performance
of 'Island." Tickets for all performances are $5 each and may be purchased
