26th Annual IONA College Invitational Set for Winged
Foot Golf Club October 18
New Rochelle, N.Y., September 7 - A rare opportunity to play
at one of the most challenging golf facilities in the world will be available
on Monday, October 18, when the 26th Annual Iona College Invitational
will be held at Winged Foot Golf Club, site of the 1997 PGA Championship
and several U.S. Open Championships. The full day of events is open to
the public at a cost of $750 each while foursomes with various benefits
range in cost from $3,000-$5,000.
The Iona Invitational will utilize both the east and west courses of
the Winged Foot complex in Mamaroneck, N.Y., rated by golfing legend
Jack Nicklaus as an "11, maybe even a 12" on a scale of 1-10. Participants
will be provided with a variety of benefits including:
- the opportunity to play the course of their choice (preferences for
tee times and course granted on a first-come basis)
- caddies and bag tags
- participant "goodie bags"
- use of the Winged Foot driving range
- tournament prizes
- hole-in-one contest
- raffle prizes
- golf clinic
- the opportunity to meet celebrity guests
- breakfast, lunch, hors d. oeuvres, dinner, and on-course refreshments
- (space permitting) the opportunity to play a second 18 holes
Three foursome packages are available:
Gold Foursome ($5,000) - full golf package (and possibly a second
18 holes, space permitting), tee sponsorship on both courses, preferred
starting time and a $100 gift certificate to the Winged Foot Pro Shop
for each player.
Maroon Foursome ($4,000) - full golf package (and possibly a second
18 holes, space permitting), tee sponsorship on one course, preferred
starting time and a $50 gift certificate to the Winged Foot Pro Shop
for each player.
Emerald Foursome ($3,000) - full golf package (and possibly a
second 18 holes, space permitting) for each player.
Individual tee sponsorships are available at a cost of $500 per hole
while dinner without the golf package is $150 per person.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help Iona provide scholarships
to dozens of deserving students.
