New Rochelle, NY (March 18, 2013) The Iona College Pipe Band, faculty, alumni, students, and staff celebrated St. Patrick’s Day weekend by attending and marching in three consecutive parades from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. The weekend festivities began by supporting a fellow Gael and Grand Marshal, Patrick C. Dunican, Jr., Esq.’88 in the Newark, NJ parade. Mr. Dunican will also be honored at the College’s 51st Annual Trustee Award Dinner. Mr. Dunican will receive the Iona College Legacy Award at the Waldorf Astoria on April 12.
Over 200 Iona Gaels continued the annual tradition on Saturday, March 16 at the New York City 252nd St. Patrick’s Day parade up the iconic Fifth Avenue. A pre-parade reception was held in the Long Room before the Iona family of alumni, faculty, students and staff were led up Fifth Avenue by the award-winning Iona College Pipers.
The weekend of parades concluded with the Sound Shore Parade in Mamaroneck, NY where the Iona contingent proudly marched alongside this year’s Grand Marshal, and Iona Board of Trustee Chairman, James P. Hynes ’69, ’01H and his family.
