The DeFeo Family Endowed Scholarship Fund Adds Awardees to Recipient Roster

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 27, 2012) The DeFeo Family Endowed Scholarship, established in 2004 in memory of deceased family member Noah DeFeo ’68, has added 10 current Iona College students to its recipient roster this year. Benefactor, alumnus and long-time friend to Iona College, Ronald DeFeo ’74, met with some of the awardees on recently to discuss their current and future plans. The students also took the opportunity to thank Mr. DeFeo for his generosity and thoughtfulness in scheduling time to meet with them.

The DeFeo Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was created to support and advance the careers of students. Scholarships are awarded to selected students who have demonstrated a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, leadership ability and/or commitment to “excellence” as demonstrated through academic awards, leadership positions in academic or professional organizations, or other recognition and financial need. “Receiving the DeFeo Scholarship and having the privilege to meet and connect with Ron DeFeo has greatly helped me financially as well as professionally,” said Dana Glick, ’12 scholarship recipient.

This year’s recipients include: Kelly Kettering ’12, a business administration major pursuing a minor in information systems, Dana Glick ’12, a business administration major pursuing a minor in marketing, Angelina Vazquez ’12, an adolescent education major pursuing a concentration in mathematics, Stella Napolitano ’13, a business management major pursuing a minor in pre-law, Andrew Serino ’15, a finance major, Emma Ames ’12, a social work major, Christopher Schuck ’13, a psychology major, Donika Kabashi ’14, a chemistry major, Colin Herron ’15, a journalism major, and Miranda Benthin ’12, a computer science major.
