New Rochelle, NY (October 2012) - The Iona College scientific research team led by Dr. Sunghee Lee published a paper titled "Tunable crystallization via osmosis-driven transport across a droplet interface bilayer" in CrystEngComm, a Journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry which was coauthored by Zuzanna Michalak ('13 Chemistry), Darius Fartash ('13 Chemistry), and Nousin Haque ('13 Biochemistry). This work is significant for future applications of droplet technology in crystallizing targets such as proteins, where the availability of ever newer methods for inducing crystal formation are consistently in demand.

Dr. Lee, who has been leading a highly successful undergraduate chemistry research team at Iona, added, "I am very proud of all of our research students as their motivation and dedication is unparalleled. They worked very hard over the years and certainly deserve all the recognition for their achievements."
This research was supported by National Science Foundation (NSF-CHE-0909978) and Iona College. Coauthor, Nousin Haque ('13 Biochemistry) is particularly grateful to the Patrick J. Martin Foundation for scholarship.
Congratulations to Iona's chemistry research team!
