New Rochelle, NY (November 20, 2012) Over 100 Iona College students, faculty, and staff gathered at 4:00 pm on Monday November 19, in Mulcahy Gym in the Hynes Athletics Center, for the seventh annual Thanksgiving Basket Blessing.  This event was coordinated by Campus Ministries and Mission Integration under the guidance of Stephen Hill (Coordinator of Iona in Mission), Gabrielle Witt (Student Campus Minister), and Dr. Regina Plunkett-Dowling (Director of Mission Integration).

This year 119 baskets were donated by various Iona College individuals, clubs, teams,  and departments each of whom showed their support by creating their own unique Thanksgiving basket complete with a holiday message to the recipient family.

President Joseph E. Nyre welcomed and thanked all in attendance for their generosity. Dail Moses-Taylor, director of Human Resources for Greyston Foundation, expressed her gratitude to the crowd and gave warm words of thanks for the annual donations from Iona. The Iona Gospel Choir (Alison Byam, Bianca Morgan, and Marci Dillion) also performed two songs under direction of  Archie Manning.   Father Frank Dixon led the basket blessing.

Immediately following the ceremony, the food baskets were delivered to 50 families from the Abraham House (the Bronx), 40 families from HOPE Community Services (New Rochelle), and 29 families from the Greyston Foundation (Yonkers).
