Iona College Celebrates Home for the Holidays

New Rochelle, NY (December 6, 2012) President Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D. and his family joined over 100 Iona College students, faculty and staff on campus at the annual “Home for the Holidays: A celebration of the holiday from around the world” on Thursday, November 29.

The festivities began with Christmas Carols and the blessing of the Nativity Crèche by Father Frank Dixon and lighting by the Nyre family. The community gathered next for the blessing and lighting of the LaPenta Christmas tree, a performance from the Gael Dancers, and a visit from Santa Clause in a cleverly decorated “Santamobile.” After Santa’s greetings, he led the crowd to the Mulcahy gym for a multicultural feast and entertainment from the Iona College Singers, cheerleaders, and Gael dancers.
