Senior Interviewing Program
Senior Interviewing Program provides Iona College seniors (in some cases graduate students and alumni) with the opportunity to interview on-campus with employers for full-time entry-level positions after graduation.
Preparing for Senior Interviewing Program
At Iona College we are committed to preparing students for Senior Interviewing Program. We assist students in identifying career opportunities, resume writing, videotaped mock interview practice and organizational research.
Participation:
Seniors, and in some cases recent alumni and graduate students (depending upon the employer’s qualifications) are able to participate in on-campus recruiting. You will have the opportunity to interview with participating employers for full-time entry-level positions.
Requirements:
- Attend a Senior Career Prep Session (group or one-on-one).
- Submit a resume and have it critiqued/approved by a Career Advisor prior to submitting resumes to employers.
- Register for MonsterTRAK www.monsterTrak.com (school password: gaels) and upload an approved resume(s) into the system. You can also access MonsterTrak through the Center for Career Development homepage.
- Utilize InterviewTrak to review job descriptions and submit resumes
- Attend an interview workshop and/or a mock interview session.
- Review the Senior Interviewing Program Policy
Submitting Resumes to Employers Through InterviewTrak:
The Center for Career Development uses InterviewTrak, a web-based system, to schedule and coordinate on-campus. interviews. This system will allow students 24 hour-a-day online access to information on all on-campus employer events and interview opportunities.
How to Use InterviewTrak:
- Log on to www.monstertrak.com and select students followed by Iona College; enter your user name/password.
- Select a date range for the entire semester.
- View participating employers by clicking on “Search” underneath the date range (you will see the event date and resume submission dates).
- View the job description by clicking on “Details” within the employer information section.
- To apply for the position, click on “Submit Resume” in the center of the job description (note: if you do not see a submit resume button it may be that you do not meet the employer position qualifications. In that case consult with a Career Advisor).
- To determine selection status and sign-up for interview time slots, go to the “Personal Dates” section at the bottom right side of the InterviewTrak homepage. Students are responsible for checking the “Personal Dates” section to determine whether an employer has pre-selected them for an interview. The system will then prompt you to sign-up online for an interview time slot.
Contact the Center for Career Development with any questions on the above information.
Senior Interviewing Program Policy
The Iona College Center for Career Development has built positive relationships with employers and made every effort to optimize on-campus interview opportunities for students. In order to maintain a positive working relationship with our employers, we have established a set of policies and procedures for students participating in the Senior Interviewing Program at Iona College. It is expected that students will abide by the policies outlined below.
- Being on Time for the Interview: It is recommended that you arrive at the Center at least 10 minutes before the scheduled interview. Late arrival will seriously impact the outcome of your interview and may in some cases result in forfeiting the interview slot.
- Maintaining Interview Appointments: When a student signs up for an interview, it is expected that he or she is interested in the position and will therefore keep the appointment. Students who fail to show up for a scheduled interview are immediately suspended from participating in any further on-campus interviews. They must meet with the Career Development Director or Associate Director to review their case and determine if they can have their eligibility reinstated.
- Dressing Professionally: Students are required to wear professional attire and be properly groomed for all interviews on campus. Men should wear suits or a jacket and tie. Women should wear dress or pants suits. Consult with a Career Advisor if you have questions on proper attire.
- Preparing for the Interview: Students must attend an interview workshop and/or conduct a mock interview practice with a career advisor prior to the interview. This will sharpen your interview skills and prepare you for a successful interview.
We encourage you to direct any questions on the above policy to the Director or Associate Director of the Center for Career Development. Best wishes for a successful career!
