Coping Skills

The Counseling Center staff are trained counselors who can help you understand yourself more fully. They can also assist you in developing coping skills that will help you feel better and take control of your life. They can help you to get the most out of your time at Iona by showing you how to:

  • Resolve problems;
  • Understand yourself better;
  • Grow emotionally and psychologically;
  • Reduce stress;
  • Learn coping skills;
  • Learn social skills.

Students come to the Counseling Center for help with a variety of concerns, such as:

  • academic support
  • stress management
  • self esteem
  • relationships
  • substance abuse
  • family problems
  • social skills
  • sexual assault
  • eating disorders
  • anxiety/ depression
  • concentration
  • sexual harassment
  • suicide
