Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I use my meal plan card? At which locations
and facilities can I use the card?
A: Your meal plan is based on a declining balance system. At the beginning
of the semester, your meal plan dollars are placed on your meal plan card,
which acts as a debit card. Each purchase is deducted from your account by
swiping your card, and your remaining balance will be shown on your requested
receipt. Purchases made with the meal plan card on campus are tax-exempt; with
cash purchases, we are required to collect state and county tax. You can use
your meal plan dollars at all Iona College dining service facilities.
Q: What happens if I run out of dollars on my card?
A: You can purchase additional meal plan dollars in increments
of $50. You will need to add money in Student Financial Services, obtain
a receipt and bring it to Business Services where they will add the amount
you purchased to your meal plan account.
Q: What about any dollars I have left over at the end of the semester?
A: Any remaining balance at the end of the Fall semester
in each declining balance account will be carried forward to the Spring
semester for returning students. Any unused balances remaining at the end
of Spring semester will be forfeited.
Q: What if I lose my meal card?
A: Don't panic; the first thing you should do is go to the Office of Campus
Safety & Security so that a hold can be put on your account balance and
issue you a new ID card. Once you receive your new card, you will need to go
to Business Services when they will reactivate your meal card. Campus Safety & Security
is located in the Robert LaPenta Student Union Building and Business Services
is located in the basement of Doorley Hall.
Q: Are there any jobs in dining services for students? How can
I apply?
A: Yes! There are employment opportunities for students
with CulinArt at Iona Dining Services, at both on campus and off campus
locations. Please ask any manager for an application.
Q: What is the policy for smoking in food service facilities at
Iona?
A: The policy: Smoking is not permitted. We ask that you refrain from smoking.
