Dear Student & Parent/Guardian:
Iona College is very concerned about the health and the financial well-being of its students. An unexpected Accident or Illness can result in the need for specialized care and higher than anticipated medical expenses. Student Accident & Sickness insurance can help students obtain the necessary treatment and reduce out of pocket expenses; therefore, Iona recommends the purchase of the student accident and sickness insurance plan arranged by The Allen J. Flood Companies and underwritten by Combined Life Insurance Company of New York. Coverage applies 24-hours each day, worldwide.
All enrolled Full-time Undergraduate students are automatically covered for Basic and Supplemental Accident insurance benefits. Full-time Undergraduate students have the option to purchase Basic and Supplemental Sickness Medical Expense benefits up to a maximum of $20,000 per Illness. Enrolled Graduate students have the option to purchase both the Basic and Supplemental Accident and Sickness benefits.
Students and their families can review the plan brochure and enroll online at: www.ajfusa.com. Under the caption "Tools for Students, Participants & Policyholder" select "College & University Students", click on "Iona College and then Enrollment Form." Visa, MasterCard and Discover are acceptable payment methods. The enrollment deadline for the Annual coverage is October 15, 2011. Newly enrolled students for the Spring Semester must enroll in the program no later than February 15, 2012.
The information made available online includes a complete description of the coverage, exclusions, limitations and rates. Please review all of the information carefully. Questions regarding the program can be directed to The Allen J. Flood Companies at: underwriting@ajfusa.com or 1-800-734-9326.
Sincerely,
Charles J. Carlson
Vice Provost for Student Development
