The Romero Center: Camden, NJ
Students will learn about Camden, NJ and volunteer at the South Jersey Food Bank, local schools and work with individuals affected with AIDS and HIV.

Overlook Farm: Rutland, MA
Explore global issues of sustainability and hunger, while working on the farm.

The Pilgrimage: Washington, DC
hands-on service learning addressing issues of urban poverty and homelessness.

Bonita Springs: Bonita Springs, FL
Themes: Immigration, migrant workers and the works of the Christian Brothers in Florida.

Nazareth Farm: Salem, WV
Serve those living in poverty – the farm provides housing services in the area of home reconstruction and rehabilitation - and try to understand what Jesus asks of us when he said “Love your neighbor”.

Habitat for Humanity: Americus, GA
New Horizons is located in Americus, GA, the birthplace of Habitat and location of Habitat International’s Headquarters. Learn about Habitat’s history and how to build a house.


March 15-21, 2008

Operation Nehemiah and Christian Brothers: New Orleans, LA
Operation Nehemiah “Rebuilds the walls of people’s lives!” literally and figuratively. Students will work on various construction projects and participate in community outreach. They will also have the opportunity to meet with the Christian Brothers of New Orleans, tour the city and take part in a lecture on New Orleans: comparing life before and after hurricane Katrina.


May 21 - June 2, 2008

Community Improvement Project: Ghana, Africa
The Community Improvement Project (CIP) was spearheaded by Donald Brown, a native of Ghana and Iona alum. Iona in Mission and the CIP will partner together for the first time ever to collaborate on a 5 phase project to improve the local schools in a village outside of Kumasi. Students will take part in an intensive cultural immersion experience and learn about Ghana history and culture first hand.


May 27-31, 2008

The Pilgrimage: Washington D.C.
The Pilgrimage offers service learning program for those called to explore the connection between urban poverty and faith. Students will learn about major issues connected to homelessness, while volunteering at soup kitchens, food banks and homeless shelters.
