Checklist of what to discuss at your first meeting:

  • Background of each person:
    • Where they live
    • School year & major
    • Why they are offering a ride, etc
    • Likes & dislikes of a traveling partner
  • Where the designated pick-up point will be
  • Departure time and date
  • Discuss the route you will take to your destination
  • Smoking and non-smoking rules
  • Is eating/drinking allowed or not in the vehicle
  • Type of music or radio stations that will be played in the vehicle
  • Will there be scheduled stops
  • Number of luggage being carried and is there space available in the car
  • Decide how the costs will be split and shared
    • When the money is due (It is best to take cash and not a check)
  • Exchange contact numbers and e-mail address
  • Discuss when you will meet again and best form of communication
