Starting in July 2004 as the Director of Residential Life, Derek now serves as the Assistant Vice Provost for Residential Life with additional administrative responsibilities for the Division of Student Development. Formally, Derek was an Assistant Director of Residential Life at Quinnipiac University and an Area Coordinator at Bentley College. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Fordham University, an MBA from Bentley College in Management, and a Bachelors of Science from Le Moyne College. Derek has been an adjunct professor of Marketing and General Business, and presented nationally on various topics, including financial management, negotiation, and learning outcomes. Outside of work, Derek is on the national training staff for USA Hockey and works for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference officiating college hockey. Each of the past three years, he has been selected as an official for Division I Women's Ice Hockey Frozen Four, and worked the National Championship game twice. Derek is an avid baseball fan, specifically the Boston Red Sox, and is involved in different thoroughbred race horse partnerships
