Services provided to the Iona community
Our staff is encouraged to take a pro-active approach to security by maintaining positive interactions with our community on a daily basis. The purpose of this philosophy is to improve the overall safety of our campus through increased involvement of all members of the Iona community in security. The Department of Campus Safety and Security has many duties and responsibilities while servicing the Iona College community. The Department is comprised of administrators, supervisors, and staff personnel that are all Iona College employees. All of our security personnel are licensed security officers with the state of New York.
Their daily performances include, but are not limited to: Investigation and documentation of incidents occurring on campus, patrol and inspection of all college buildings and facilities, enforcement of traffic and parking regulations as detailed below, assignment to resident halls, transportation of students with medical needs, report hazardous conditions and unusual occurrences, and any other activities assigned by the tour supervisor or administrator. We are also responsible for processing all Iona College ID cards and parking permits. Our office is located in the Robert V. LaPenta Student Union and the hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 8:00pm and Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. In cases of emergencies or distress, activate one of the blue emergency phones located on campus. Additional details about campus parking, safety and security policies, and other pertinent regulations are available in our Handbook (PDF) . Students must also familiarize themselves with the Code of Conduct and policy statements in the student handbook (PDF) , especially the policy on Campus Security and Sexual Assault Prevention. |
