The Accounting Club provides interested students with information regarding career development and professional certification. The club also acts as an avenue through which the students can network, participate in various social events, and meet other students with similar career objectives.

During club activity hour, the accounting students get together and participate in social activities and accounting-related topics of discussion. The goal of the Iona College Accounting Club is to provide each student with the proper tools such that they will be a sought-after entity in the professional environment. The Club tries to enhance student interest in the Accounting field, as well as assist students in the transition from academia to the workplace.

This past year the Accounting Club participated in the following activities:

• During the Fall and Spring Semesters we invited CPA review courses to come and discuss their courses with us. We also raffled off several courses (each worth over $1,000).
• Guest speakers came from a number of the major accounting firms to give us an overview of their respective companies and hints about the interviewing process.
• Junior-year accounting majors participated in on-campus recruiting with various Big Four accounting firms and Fortune 500 corporations.

For this upcoming school year we are planning:

• Guest speakers who have accounting degrees to discuss the various professions and certifications one can obtain being an accountant.
• Accounting Societies and Membership drives.
• Topics such as professional etiquette and the Accounting Recruitment Program for sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

The Club meets most Thursdays in Hagan Hall, Room 012. The current schedule includes presentations by senior interns, Career Services and representatives of CPA Exam preparation courses and public accounting firms.
