National Student Speech & Hearing/Language Association Club

The Iona chapter serves as a forum for current issues in speech pathology, hearing and language.

Our Mission:
The Speech and Hearing Club is Iona's chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association. Our members are either interested in or majoring in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology. In this organization, we pass along information about career possibilities, graduate schools, and developments in the field. This organization also gives majors an opportunity to meet outside of the classroom, creating a community of support for each other. This past year, our organization held it's 5th annual "Strides for Speech Walk." Here, we successfully helped to raise funds for supplies for Iona's on campus Speech-Language Pathology clinic, where senior students in our major gain can gain supervised experience. We were also able to send some of the proceeds to the American Stroke Association in order to benefit stroke victims, whom we, as future Speech-Language Pathologists, may possibly treat as clients in the future. Our organization, like most others on campus, had lots of fun sending a team to the Autism Walk and participating in many other community service projects. In the future we look forward to strengthening our connection to both the Iona and New Rochelle communities.
