Public Relations Student Society of America

The Public Relations Student Society of America is a national organization, which encourages the development of student-run public relations firms to broaden members' understanding and skills through practical learning.

The organization is affiliated with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). PRSSA gives students the opportunity to practice using the Public Relations Society of America Code of Professional Standards as their guide to the ethical practice of public relations. Members have the option to become associate members of PRSA after graduation.

We meet Thursdays at 12 noon, 3rd floor of the Murphy Center.

Joyce C. Ramirez is a senior at IONA College majoring in Public Relations, minoring in Spanish. She is very involved within the IONA College Community, holding positions on PRSSA, the Iona Singers, and a staff writer of the Ionian Newspaper. Upon graduating spring 2010, Joyce will be attending Graduate School aiming for a degree in International Studies/Non-Profit Management. Ms. Ramirez enjoys to dance (especially salsa), sing, act, watch Broadway Shows and spend time with her family and friends.

Vice President

Jamila R. Woolford is currently a senior at Iona College majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Sociology. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She is currently very active on campus, other than being part of PRSSA, she is also on the Gaels Activities Board and a staff writer on the Ionian. After graduating, Jamila hopes to go to graduate school and get a degree in International Communications/Media Studies. She loves music, movies, and hanging out with her friends.

Colleen Finley

Colleen Finley is a senior majoring in Mass Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations. She was born and raised in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Colleen is a member of the Mass Communications Honor Society. Upon graduating from Iona in May 2010, Colleen hopes to secure a job in the field of event planning. Colleens favorite past times are going to the beach, attending concerts, watching movies, and hanging out with her family and friends.

Melissa Morris is originally from New Jersey, and is a transfer student from William Paterson University. Melissa is a Mass Communications Major with a concentration in Public Relations. Upon graduating in 2010 she hopes to work in a Human Resources department for a fashion company. This is her second year with PRSSA and is very excited to hold the position as Treasurer. She enjoys fashion, New York City, traveling, friends and being with family.

Shari Baldie is a junior at Iona College. She is a Mass Communications major with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Writing. In her spare time she likes to write and hang out with her friends.

Brianne Mulligan, currently a sophomore here at Iona College, is a Public Relations major from Staten Island, NY. She is a member of the Iona College track team. Within PRSSA she is the Bateman co-captain meaning she works with the rest of the Iona PRSSA e-board to put together a campaign for Bateman, a national competition among PRSSA members. She loves shopping, taking naps, listening to music, meeting new people, spending time with her family and friends and listening to celebrity gossip. After graduating in 2011 her dream job is to become a Celebrity Publicist.
