Council for Greek Governance

The Council for Greek Governances (CGG) mission is to serve as a governing body to the Iona Fraternity and Sorority community and its primary responsibilities are to establish and enforce policies and adjunction of disciplinary infractions relating to Greek-letter organizations. It serves as an advisory capacity to the Office of Student Development, Student Government Association, and the Administration of Iona College. CGG acts as a medium for the exchange of information and experience for the improvement of the social Greek system and the Fraternity and Sorority life at Iona. CGG also exists to provide leadership and guidance to the Fraternity and Sorority community by conducting or promoting educational, philanthropic programming, and by recognizing new Greek-letter organizations.



The Council for Greek Governance is comprised of the officially recognized Social Greek Letter organizations at Iona College. The goal of the Council is to improve the quality of student life and to contribute to the general well being of the campus. This organization sponsors numerous campus events and fund raising activities.

Values: Greek Unity and Proper New Member Education

Philanthropy:This year the Council for Greek Governance will be sponsoring the project "Help CGG find our Philanthropy". The organizations will develop 5 philanthropic events that will include fundraising and awareness activities.

Educational Initiative: Gender and Sexual Orientation Equality Awareness

Community Services: Make a Difference Week, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Community Clean Up, Hospitality Dinners.

Sponsored Events: Fall Recruitment, Spring Recruitment, Greek Week, Welcome Back Block Party, The Privilege Walk, and Hunger Banquet

Council for Greek Governance Executive Board

John Petrullo
President

John Petrullo is a senior at Iona, and is majoring in International Business. He is from Staten Island, New York, and he is currently a Resident Assistant in Rice Hall. John is a brother of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, and has served as both Treasurer and Vice President of the Council for Greek Governance. John has volunteered for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other local organizations. He is the President for the 2011-2012 CGG Executive board. He hopes to help Greek Life grow and reach its true potential.

Katie Diesu
Vice President

Katie Diesu is a senior at Iona College and is majoring in Elementary Education. She is from Long Island, New York and is a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority. Katie has served as Community Service Chair and Recruitment chair on the Council for Greek Governance and as Bursar for her sorority executive board in the past. She is currently vice president for the Council of Greek Governance and hopes to have a great year of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Danielle Vazquez
Treasurer

Danielle Vazquez is from Bridgeport, CT. She is currently a senior at Iona College. Danielle is a sister of Phi Gamma Chi and is majoring in Finance.

Nicole Esposito
Vice President of Communications

Nicole Esposito is from Plainedge, New York, which is located on Long Island. She is the current Recording Secretary for the 2010-2011 CGG Executive board. She is a Speech Pathology major and a senior at Iona. She is also a proud sister of Delta Theta Beta Sorority. Her favorite thing to do is dance, and she has been a competitive dancer for twelve years.

Victoria Geiter is currently a Senior graduating as an English Major and Spanish Minor. She is from New Jersey and is a sister of  Delta Theta Beta Sorority. Victoria also takes part of the Iona College Women's Rowing team.

Danielle Congiusta
Secretary

Danielle Congiusta is a senior at Iona College. She is from Long Island, NY and is aspiring to become an elementary school teacher. Danielle has been a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority since Fall 2009. Besides being the Vice President of Communications for CGG this current year, she is the secretary of Students Against Destructive Decisions, (SADD) and a member of the Education Club and Edmund Rice Society.

Raymond Badia
Male Recruitment Chair

Raymond Badia is a senior at Iona College from Mount Vernon, New York. He is majoring in Finance, and is a proud Fraternity member since Spring 2010. During his free time he enjoys hanging out with his brothers, playing sports, and spending time with his family. His current position for the 2011-2012 Council of Greek Governance executive board is Male Recruitment Chair.

Alexandra Malvasio
Female Recruitment Chair

Ali Malvasio is a junior at Iona College majoring in Dual Education with a concentration in Spanish from Massapequa, New York. Ali is a proud sorority sister and has been a part of the Edmund Rice Society, the Education Club, and Best Buddies. She volunteers for the National Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, and Autism Research. Ali is the Female Recruitment Chair for the Council for Greek Governance for 2011-2012 and hopes to share the positives of Greek Life and help both current and potential members grow.

Academic & Risk Management Chair

Raquel Feoli is the 2011-2012 Academic Risk Management Chair for Council of Greek Governance. She is  from Long Island and currently a junior at Iona studying Adolescent Education concentrating in Social Studies. Raquel is a part of the sisterhood of Phi Sigma Sigma. Other activities on campus are she is a part of are: Education Club treasure, a member of the Edmund Rice Society, and I work for Office of Student Development.

Kailin Villamar is from the Bronx in New York City. She is a senior at Iona College majoring in Advertising & Marketing. She is a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority. Her current position for the Council of Greek Governance is Special Events Chair.

Kathryn Mallach
Philanthropy Chair/ Community Service

Katie Mallach is from New Hyde Park, Queens.  She is a junior majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Pre-Law.  She is a proud sister of Delta Theta Beta Sorority since Fall 2010. Her position for the Council for Greek Governance is Community Service/Philanthropy Chair.  She is also the Community Service Chair for Iona's Gay Straight Alliance.

Public Relations Chair

Lauren Paciullo is a junior at Iona College, and she is from the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx. She is majoring in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Sociology. Lauren is a proud sister of Delta Theta Beta. She enjoys spending time with her friends and sisters. Her current position for the CGG 2010-2011 Executive board is Public Relations Chair.
