S.O.C.A. stands for Students of Caribbean Ancestry.
Mission:
The purpose of S.O.C.A. is to promote diversity and knowledge of different caribbean cultures. S.O.C.A. brings awareness to the college community of current issues,events, culture, heritage, and lifestyle of people in the islands. Our goal is to make the college community more aware of caribbean culture through workshops, discussion panels, arts and crafts, movie nights, parties, carnivals and more. S.O.C.A. has been officially recognized as a club or organization to the IONA College community as of the Spring semester 2006. The S.O.C.A club also works together with other clubs in promoting various events. Although, the name stands for Students of Caribbean Ancestry, anyone is more than welcome to join this organization

Movie Night - January 30th 2008 S.O.C.A. presents the award winning Haitian film "I Love Anne" starting at 9pm until 11pm in the End Zone Room at the LaPenta Student Union's (Refreshments will be served)
The Art Of Movement - February 21st 2008 S.O.C.A. hosts an exciting and fun Caribbean Dance Class starting at 3pm until 5pm in the Hynes Dance Studio
S.O.C.A. Theater - February 28th 2008 S.O.C.A. presents their very own diverse play written, directed, and performed by S.O.C.A. members from Iona College. The show starts at 9pm until 11pm in the End Zone Room at the LaPenta Student Union. (Refreshments will be served)
Black History Month Celebration - February 29th 2008 Come dance and celebrate the important contributions of African-Americans. The party starts at 9pm until 12am in the End Zone Room at the LaPenta Student Union's. (Refreshments will be served)
