January 2018 Intersession

The Learning in Retirement at Iona College (LIRIC) January 2018 Intersession meets on four Thursdays – January 4, 11, 18 and 25. All classes meet at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at the Intersection of Mill Rd and North Ave in New Rochelle, N.Y.

January courses are included in the full-year membership. If you are not currently a member, please email spage@iona.edu for more information.

It’s Raining Cats and Dogs (11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.)

Join us for a series of talks about our most domesticated pets – their history, their care, and their appearance in art and literature.

Writing Workshop (11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.)

This class, a return to the writing workshop format LIRIC offered in past years, gives you the opportunity to turn your memories into memoirs and experiment with a variety of other writing genres in a nurturing atmosphere.

At Home and Abroad (1 - 2:15 p.m.)

Hear about – and enjoy – the food of distant lands and here at home. The class will also give you the opportunity to learn about the latest scams and discover how best to manage your own health.

    • Light refreshment will be served following the program.

    • Mastering Self-Management of Your Health
    • Presenter: Marikay Capasso, coordinator of the Health for Life Program, Westchester County Department of Senior Programs

The Art Workshop (1 - 2:15 p.m.)

If you took the art workshop or the drawing class in the fall and wish to continue working, this is the place to be. If you want just a few drawing lessons, try your hand here. Bring your favorite drawing materials with you!
