Jaridy Fabre '17 - Raising a Family and Pursuing a Dream
This mother of two persevered through sleepless nights, exams, and externships to fulfill her passion for helping others.
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - This mother of two persevered through sleepless nights, exams, and externships to fulfill her passion for helping others. A native of Bronx, N.Y., Jaridy Fabre ‘17, returned to school just after giving birth to her second child, in order to pursue her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist. Originally intending to get a master’s in psychology, she decided to switch career paths despite not having a background in speech. She went back to school, successfully earning a second bachelors in speech and applied to grad school. Determined and committed, she decided on Iona’s grad program for speech because of its emphasis on the latest available researched-based strategies and techniques. Jaridy recalls, “I knew the road ahead would not be easy, being a full-time graduate student and a mother. Nevertheless, I persevered and finally graduated!”
