New Rochelle, NY (August 8, 2013) Iona staff, alumni and current students participated in the College’s second annual New Student Receptions this July which welcomed incoming freshman families to the Iona community. Held in Trumbull, CT, New Rochelle, NY, Long Island, NY, Mendham, NJ and East Greenwich, RI, the receptions offered incoming students and their families an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Iona and meet some of their fellow Gaels from the class of 2017.
Vincent Calluzzo, Ph.D., dean of the Hagan School of Business; Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president for Advancement & External Affairs; Kristen Mengold, vice president for Advancement & Alumni Relations; Rick Cole, Jr., director of Athletics; and Kathy Reilly, director of Admissions, were among the administrators in attendance who welcomed families and answered questions about Iona.
Three of the events were graciously hosted at the homes of two current Iona families and one alumnus. In Trumbull, CT, Chris and Carol Collins, parents of Ryan Collins ’15, kicked off the first reception. The New Jersey event was hosted by Iona alumnus John P. Micera ’83 and his wife Monica, and the Rhode Island event was held at the home of Scott and Mary Tierney, parents of Ryan Tierney ’16. The New Rochelle, NY event was held in the garden of Iona’s eighth President, Dr. Joseph E. Nyre and the Long Island reception was held at the Plandome Country Club, where families heard remarks from alumni parent, Rosanna Baccari P’13.
