Moving the World…
One Brick at a Time
This summer, improvements are in progress across Iona College’s main 45-acre campus. From a new residence hall to other student-centered campus updates, the beauty and functionality of Iona will continue to grow.
The centerpiece of these campus improvements is a prominent project at the main entrance to campus, the North Avenue Residence Hall. The facility, which will provide apartment-style living for 310 students, is scheduled for completion in fall 2016. See more about the project or view live video feed of construction.
LaPenta Student Union will see several projects improving student options, including a new, full Starbucks store, opening in fall 2015 -- see design elevations
. Also in the works are updates to the Game Room, the Student Government Association office and Club Hub. LaPenta’s Marketplace food court will be painted and additional renovations will be done in Vitanza Commons food court in the lower level of Spellman Hall.
Hynes Athletics Center will see a relocation and renewal of campus weightroom facilities, new paint and scoreboard in the pool area, renovation of the men’s varsity locker room, as well as other maintenance and facilities improvements.
The Murphy Center, home to many of the departments in the School of Arts and Science, will have outside renovation work completed, including roof and gable repairs.
Iona’s parking garage will be refurbished, with improvements made to the structure in stages, ensuring access to adequate parking over the summer. As with most other campus projects, the facility will remain open during the work.
Other summer 2015 projects include updates to the campus energy management system, a new generator in Loftus Hall, painting in all the other residence halls, new carpet and painting in the Apartments at Eastchester, and exterior work on entrances of the Celtic offices and McSpedon Hall.
