New Rochelle, NY (July 22, 2015) Iona College hosted seven high school students and two teachers from Colegio Lincoln, a private high school in La Plata, Argentina, for an educational-cultural camp focusing on four disciplines of the mass communication field – broadcasting, journalism, advertising and public relations – July 6 to July 20.
Following on last year’s camp for 17 students, this intensive experience for international high school students was coordinated by the Office of Conference Services and the Department of Mass Communication.
While experiencing these selected mass media professions, the Colegio Lincoln students were engaged in classes taught by Iona faculty, such as shooting, editing and producing video projects; creating advertising and public relations campaigns; and reporting and creating a newspaper about their experiences.
Besides their classroom projects and field work, the students visited various cultural, historical and entertainment sites in the metropolitan area, including a Broadway musical, the WFAS AM-FM radio station, the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, THE RIDE: New York City, and a New York City Football Club match at Yankee Stadium.
