New Rochelle, NY (April 17, 2015) Ten Iona student teams have earned placement in the Top 100 global rankings in the GLO-BUS competitive business simulation. This is especially notable because there are 3,241 teams from 161 colleges/universities participating in the simulation game world-wide during the week of March 30 to April 5.
The students are enrolled in the Business Policy and Strategy course taught by Jeffrey W. Alstete, ‘87MBA, ‘90MS, Ed.D., associate professor of Management and Business Administration.
Outstanding student team of business seniors Ryan Harding, Patrick Stewart and Nick Adams (Team I: International Image) earned 56th best Overall Game-To-Date Score, 29th Best Earning Per Share (EPS), and 52nd best Stock Price. Nine other Iona teams also performed exceptionally well.
"It is truly rewarding to see Iona students earn top rankings in this challenging online international business simulation,” said Dr. Alstete. “Students have told me that playing the game is a valuable learning experience that they include on their resumes and talk about on job interviews.”
The GLO-BUS is a completely online global simulation by McGraw-Hill/Irwin where the focus is on competitive strategy, and teams of students run a digital camera company in head-to-head competition against companies run by other class members.
Company operations parallel those of actual digital camera companies. Just as in the real world, companies compete in a global market arena, selling digital cameras in four geographic regions—Europe-Africa, North America, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
Each week, the best-performing GLO-BUS companies measured on four performance variables (Overall Score, EPS, ROE, and Stock Price) are honored on the website. The simulation will continue through the Spring Semester.
