The Ionian Awarded First Place from the American Scholastic Press Association

New Rochelle, NY (April 21, 2015) The Iona College student newspaper, The Ionian, has been awarded the 2015 Scholastic Newspaper Award for first place from the American Scholastic Press Association.

The Ionian was one of 16 first place winners in the category of colleges/universities with enrollment of over 2,501.

"The Ionian editors, led by Editor-in-Chief Mackenzie Mennucci ’15, take a professional approach to publishing each and every issue of The Ionian, to an extent that is truly impressive for a student publication,” said Ionian advisor, Mitchell Bard, assistant professor of Journalism. “They deserve every accolade that comes their way. It is always gratifying when others recognize the high quality of the students' work."

"After almost a year of hard work, I couldn't be happier to receive word that The Ionian received a first place award along with several schools with similar sizes,” said Mennucci. “It is a clear result of the unmatched dedication from my editorial board and is so very richly deserved. I am extremely grateful and proud to lead such a talented team."
