Scott Cleary, Ph.D., associate professor of English and director of the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies, is the co-editor with Ivy Linton Stabell, Ph.D., assistant professor of English. The book is titled, "New Directions in Thomas Paine Studies" published by Palgrave Macmillan. This book propels the study of American revolutionary and radical Thomas Paine into the twenty-first century by engaging an interdisciplinary and international group of scholars in an exploration of Paine's role in politics, literature, and the invention of the global. This essay collection was derived from various disciplines, including English,History, Political Science, Philosophy, Religious Studies and others. The book is a culmination from the First International Conference on Thomas Paine Studies, which was sponsored by and hosted at Iona College in October of 2012. Other contributors to the essay collection include Iona faculty, Gary Berton, Dr. Bob Schiaffino, Dr. Lubomir Ivanov, Dr. Smiljana Petrovic, Dr. Peter Chapin, Dr. Ivy Stabell and Kara Nowakowski (Iona alumna).
