JLL President/Chair to Speak at Graduate Commencement

New Rochelle, NY (April 26, 2016) -- Peter Riguardi ’83, an Iona College alumnus who leads a major real estate organization in the Tri-State area, will be the keynote speaker for the College’s graduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 21.
Riguardi is president and chair of New York Tri-State Region at JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle), a professional services and investment management company specializing in real estate. He leads all operations for the company in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, managing a team of approximately 2,000 professionals in seven offices throughout the area. Named chair in February 2016 in addition to retaining his role as president, Riguardi now oversees all business lines in the region including brokerage, capital markets, property/facilities management, consulting, and project and development services.
“We’re honored to have a business leader of Mr. Riguardi’s caliber and achievement share his expertise with our graduating students,” said Iona College President Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D. “He is an outstanding example of what an Iona education can help achieve as he has literally moved the world of real estate and property management.”
Prior to joining JLL in September 2002, Mr. Riguardi was vice chairman and principal of Colliers ABR Inc., a company that he helped form in 1994. He started his real estate career at GVA Williams in 1983, where he was the youngest senior vice president in the firm’s history. During his 28-year career in commercial real estate, he has been actively involved in several of the largest and most noteworthy transactions in metropolitan New York City -- including a 1.6 million-square-foot lease for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority at 2 Broadway, a 1.2 million-square-foot headquarters ground lease and development at 745 Seventh Avenue, and nearly 2.1 million square feet of leasing for Bank of America at One Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and the GM Building. He also served as advisor to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey on the redevelopment of the World Trade Center. Mr. Riguardi is consistently ranked by the New York Observer as one of New York’s most influential real estate executives.
Mr. Riguardi serves on the Board of Governors for the Real Estate Board of New York and is an active member of the organization’s senior leadership. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Regional Plan Association and on the board of the Rabin Medical Center of Israel, as well as a member of the Partnership for the City of New York. He is a former member of the Iona College Board of Trustees and has been honored by the Rabin Medical Center of Israel, Met Council, Muscular Dystrophy, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Special Olympics, United Way and The Police Athletic League.
A 1983 Iona College graduate with degrees in marketing and finance, Mr. Riguardi will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree at commencement ceremonies -- which take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, in the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Nasdaq CEO Robert Greifeld ’79 will speak at Iona’s undergraduate ceremony that morning.
