The Iona College Legacy Award is bestowed upon unique individuals in recognition of their lifetime accomplishments. This year, the Board of Trustees has the honor of presenting the Legacy Award to two outstanding alumni: Albert J. Mellina ’63, ’68MBA and Eugene P. Conese Sr. ’51, ’01H posthumously as well as the Conese family. Mr. Mellina, Mr. Conese and the Conese family have been staunch supporters of Iona. Their ethical leadership and willingness to serve others stand as testaments to the Iona mission and spirit.
The Blessed Edmund Rice Humanitarian Award, named to honor the founder of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, recognizes those who by their activities and service to others have reinforced Iona’s identity as a College founded in the tradition of the Congregation of Christian Brothers and American Catholic higher education. Iona College will present the Blessed Edmund Rice Humanitarian Award to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.
