Trustee Robert V. LaPenta ’67, ’00H celebrated his second win of the Belmont Stakes, the final of the annual Triple Crown races, with his thoroughbred horse Tapwrit. His first Belmont winner was Da' Tara in 2008.
A longtime supporter of the College, LaPenta made the largest single gift to build a new home
for Iona’s School of Business. The new facility will transform Hagan Hall, the home of Iona’s business school, with a new structure incorporating the existing building – more than doubling the space available for students and faculty. Iona’s business school is accredited by AACSB International, a distinction awarded to just 5 percent of business schools worldwide.

He also serves as chairman and CEO of Revolution Lighting Technologies. Prior to these endeavors, Mr. LaPenta founded L-1 Identity Solutions and co-founded L-3 Communications.
