NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Iona College has 48 students, faculty and staff participating in service immersions during spring break this year, the week of March 13.
The group is split up between five destinations: Brownsville, Texas and Bridgeport, Conn., along with Chicago, New Orleans, and New York City. (The photo at below is a commissioning ceremony for those preparing for the trips.)
"Through Iona in Mission, our students will partner with agencies and church-based ministries that serve those made poor in inner cities throughout our country," said Carl Procario-Foley, Ph.D., director of the Office of Mission and Ministry. "They will explore issues such as racism, gun violence and ecological sustainability as they seek to respond as Edmund Rice would: with compassion, justice and commitment to human dignity."
